5. SMS Messaging Program and Mobile Information
This section governs information collected through the Paulean SMS messaging program (the "Program"). By opting in to the Program, you consent to the practices described below.
Opt-in to the Program is voluntary; it is not required to use any Paulean service or to complete any transaction with Paulean.
Information collected
Through the Program, Paulean collects your mobile phone number, the content of messages you send and receive through the Program, your opt-in consent record (including timestamp, page URL where consent was given, and the exact consent language displayed), and metadata associated with message delivery such as timestamps and delivery status.
How we use mobile information
Mobile information collected through the Program is used solely to:
- Deliver the SMS messages you have requested, including appointment confirmations, reminders, order updates, inquiry responses, and customer support communications
- Comply with carrier requirements and applicable regulations including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and CTIA guidelines
- Maintain an audit trail of your consent for compliance purposes
- Process opt-out requests (reply STOP) and help requests (reply HELP)
No sharing for marketing or promotional purposes
Paulean does NOT share, sell, rent, lease, lend, or otherwise disclose your mobile phone number, SMS opt-in data, or SMS consent records with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. This restriction applies to all categories of personal information collected through the SMS Program. No mobile information collected through the Program is used for any purpose other than those described in this Privacy Policy.
Service providers
We may share mobile information with subcontractors and service providers that perform services on our behalf solely to operate the Program (for example, our messaging infrastructure provider Twilio for SMS transmission, and our hosting providers for data storage). These providers are contractually obligated to handle your information consistent with this Privacy Policy and to use it only for the purposes for which we engage them.
Your rights
You may revoke consent and opt out of the Program at any time by replying STOP to any Paulean message, or by emailing [email protected] with the subject "SMS opt out" and the mobile number you wish to unsubscribe. You may reply HELP to any Paulean message for support information.
Carrier notice
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
6. Tracking Technologies
- Cookies and Web Beacons: We may use cookies, web beacons, tracking pixels, and other tracking technologies on the Site to help customize the Site and improve your experience. When you access the Site, your personal information is not collected through the use of tracking technology. Most browsers are set to accept cookies by default. You can remove or reject cookies, but be aware that such action could affect the availability and functionality of the Site.
- Website Analytics: We may also partner with selected third-party vendors to allow tracking technologies and remarketing services on the Site through the use of first-party cookies and third-party cookies, to, among other things, analyze and track users' use of the Site, determine the popularity of certain content, and better understand online activity.
7. Third-Party Websites
The Site may contain links to third-party websites and applications of interest, including advertisements and external services, that are not affiliated with us. Once you have used these links to leave the Site, any information you provide to these third parties is not covered by this Privacy Policy, and we cannot guarantee the safety and privacy of your information.

10. Controls for Do-Not-Track Features
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. No uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online.
11. Paulean Trips
This section covers Paulean Trips, at trips.paulean.com, and the emails it sends. The rest of this Privacy Policy also applies. Where this section differs from the rest of the policy, this section controls for Paulean Trips. The terms for Paulean Trips are in Section 11 of our Terms of Service.
We collect your information when you plan or book travel with us, and we use it only to plan, book and support your trips.
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address, and phone number if you give it.
- Trip details you give us: such as dates, places, where you are traveling from, your preferences and your notes.
- Traveler details a booking needs: such as names exactly as they appear on ID, dates of birth, travel document details, loyalty numbers, and needs that affect a booking, including for people you book for.
- Payment information: your card is handled by our payment processor. Paulean does not store your full card number.
- Your responses on a trip, and a record of what you accepted and when.
- Technical information: such as your IP address, browser and device. Your browser's local storage keeps you signed in on that device.
How we use it
We use your information only to plan, book and support your trips: to arrange and book travel, take payments and handle refunds, send you messages about your trip, keep a record of what was agreed, answer your questions and disputes, prevent fraud, and meet our legal obligations.
We also record details of transactions, such as destination, dates, group size, what was booked and its price, with your personal information removed, and use them to improve our planning and pricing. These records never include your personal information, and we never sell them, share them, or use them to train AI models.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with those needed to deliver your trips:
- Suppliers, such as airlines, hotels, rental hosts, transport, venues and activity providers, receive what each booking needs. They use it under their own privacy policies.
- Our payment processor handles payments and card details.
- Our service providers for cloud hosting, email delivery, and mapping and AI services, which act on our instructions and only for the purposes we engage them for.
- Your trip's lead booker, where the lead needs it to organize the trip, including the record of what you accepted. We do not show your card details or private contact details to other travelers.
- As required by law, to protect rights, or in a business transfer, as described in Section 4.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for other companies' advertising. Paulean Trips does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our payment processor's pages may use their own cookies to prevent fraud.
Emails
Paulean Trips emails come from [email protected]. Replies go to [email protected].
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your trip is being planned and for as long as we need it afterwards for bookings, receipts, refunds, disputes, taxes and our legal obligations. When we no longer need it, we delete it or remove what identifies you.
Children
Paulean Trips accounts are for adults. A parent or guardian may give the details a booking needs for a minor traveling with them, and we use those details only to plan and book that trip.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, send you a copy, or delete it. Write to [email protected] from the email address you used on the trip, and we will confirm it is you before acting. Some information we must keep even after a deletion request, such as records of what was agreed and paid while a charge could still be disputed, and details a supplier already holds for a booking, which that supplier keeps under its own policy. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, and we will not treat you differently for using them.
Paulean Trips is operated from the United States, and your information is processed in the United States.
